Prince William And Prince Harry
John Boyega has claimed that William and Harry’s cameos were cut, though his reps have since denied that. Either way, it’s been widely reported that they were either the executioner Stormtroopers or were in a scrapped elevator scene alongside Take That singer Gary Barlow.
Some Familiar Voices
Just like in The Force Awakens, some famous voices are used in The Last Jedi, including Matthew Wood (General Grievous) and Sam Witwer (Starkiller). They’re both credited as “additional voices” and are joined by composer Michael Giacchino who recorded the whispers luring Rey to the Jedi tree.
The actor obviously returns as Luke Skywalker in this movie but check the credits closely and you’ll notice that he had a second, secret role as Dobbu Scay, a character named after Lucasfilm editor Bob Ducsay (it’s an anagram). It’s thought this is the alien pumping coins into BB-8.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt worked with Rian Johnson on Brick and Looper so it should come as no surprise to learn he appears here. Totally unrecognisable, the actor shows up as Slowen-Lo, the alien on Canto Bight who reports Finn and Rose for landing their ship on the beach and ultimately gets them arrested.
Mark Hamill’s Children
All three of the actor’s children make cameo appearances in The Last Jedi as Resistance Fighters on Crait who are being ordered around by Poe Dameron. One of them – Nathan – also showed up in The Phantom Menace and that, believe it or not, was actually a whole eighteen years ago.
Unfortunately, Tom Hardy’s cameo ended up on the cutting room floor. It would have seen him play a First Order Stormtrooper who recognises Finn on Supreme Leader Snoke’s Star Destroyer and is shocked to learn his old friend has managed to rise up the ranks to become an officer.
Familiar Faces From Game Of Thrones
Most of The Last Jedi was shot in the UK and Ireland and that means we get a lot of appearances from faces sure to be familiar to those from that side of the pond. However, if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll notice that Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn) shows up as a member of The First Order, while Ralph Ineson (Dagmer Cleftjaw) shows up as a senior First Order officer as well.
Yoda’s surprise cameo appearance in The Last Jedi is nothing short of amazing and that is indeed original voice actor Frank Oz who is providing the iconic character’s vocals during this sequence.
The singer is one of the Resistance fighters in the movie and can be spotted doing battle on Crait.
Justin Theroux And Lily Cole
When Finn and Rose are sent to Canto Bight to track down a master codebreaker, they find him gambling on the casino floor but are quickly taken down by security. Well, take a closer look and you’ll notice that the high roller is actually The Leftovers star Justin Theroux while the gorgeous woman by his side is Lily Cole, a model with a handful of acting credits to her name.
Andrew Jack can be seen striding out on the plains of Crait, leaving red footprints in his wake. He also showed up in The Force Awakens and while General Ematt may not have any lines, it may surprise you to learn that his actual job at Lucasfilm is serving as a dialect coach!
Noah Segan has appeared in every single one of Rian Johnson’s movies so fans were absolutely expecting him to show up here too. Well, he can be seen multiple times on the Resistance ship near the start of the movie before he gets blown up alongside a number of other fighters by Kylo Ren.
The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director gave Rian Johnson a cameo in that movie and the favour is returned here as he can be spotted in one of Crait’s trenches as a fellow Resistance soldier points out that the planet is made up almost entirely of salt, hence why those footprints leave red marking.
The pint-sized actor is no stranger to cameos in the Star Wars movies after first appearing in Return of the Jedi and can be seen in this movie as Wodibin, one of the gamblers on Canto Bight.
More British Actors
British comedy legend Adrian Edmondson (who Johnson is a huge fan of) plays First Order Captain Peavey. He’s joined by other familiar British faces as we see Chewing Gum star Michaela Coel and The Windsors’ Hugh Skinner pop up at various points in the movie as well.
Carrie Fisher’s dog Gary has become iconic after accompanying his owner around the globe and he’s given a cameo in The Last Jedi in a background shot on Canto Bight as the pet of a gambler.
